Thousands of RiDE participants protected by EPF, Socso contributions

SHAH ALAM, July 19 — The state government administration introduced the Roda Darul Ehsan (RiDE) initiative to encourage youths, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds, to engage in the gig economy sector.

Since its implementation in 2020, it has benefited thousands of workers and has been met with strong positive response, with over 14,000 applications.

Under RiDE, participants can apply for a B2 license subsidy worth RM350, attend a training course (RM200), and enjoy a one-year contribution from the Social Security Organisation (Socso) worth RM70.

They will also receive contributions from the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) worth RM50, as well as contributions from the Insurans Am Selangor (Insan) scheme of up to RM10,000.

The comprehensive report on RiDE, summarized in the state's five-year performance card, can be read and downloaded at amirudinshari.com.
