SHAH ALAM, July 18 — The Kuala Kubu Bharu state constituency has spent over RM1.5 million to upgrade the Kuala Kubu Bharu Public Market, for the convenience of traders and customers.
Its incumbent state assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong said the works also were carried out due to the lack of maintenance at the market since 2007.
"With this allocation provided by the state government in 2022, we upgraded the roof to prevent birds from entering the market, thus preventing their droppings from scattering and dirtying the area.
"We also improved the interior by providing a more modern and trader-friendly layout. In so doing, traders no longer need to use chairs and tables to display their merchandise," she said when contacted.
Lee added the market was also upgraded to ensure its environs remain clean.
Prior to this, Kuala Kubu Bharu utilised RM500,000 in funds from Projek Selangor Penyayang (PSP), to carry out 19 infrastructure restoration works in the area.
To date, six projects have been completed, including the construction of a new wakaf at the Indian cemetery in Kerling, roof replacement, and road resurfacing at Balairaya Kuarters Kakitangan along Jalan Hospital.
Other works include the widening of the iron bridge at Kampung Paya Dalam, upgrading the hall and changing room at the hot spring pool, and replacing the roof at Balairaya Kampung Asam Kumbang and Dewan Kwang Yung Kwang Sai Association.
