SHAH ALAM, July 10 — The Subang Jaya Municipal Council's (MBSJ) Car-Free Day programme along Jalan SS16/1, in front of the Aeon Big Subang Jaya supermarket and the Subang Parade shopping centre, managed to attract over 800 attendees yesterday.

Its corporate communications division said the programme's main activities included the Endurance Challenge V2.0 cycling event and the Run Bike Subang Jaya (Push Bike) championship for children aged two to nine.

"Various sports and recreational activities were also available, including cycling, running, casual walking, aerobic exercises, street soccer competitions, 1v1 basketball matches, archery, and adventure sports like abseiling, rappelling, and flying fox.

"MBSJ also organised a karaoke competition, a breakfast party, free health check-ups, recycling programmes, and a special lucky draw for visitors," said the council in a statement.

The first edition after its rebranding from the Selamat Pagi Subang Jaya programme, MBSJ's Car-Free Day also featured demonstrations by the Malaysian Civil Defense Force and a silat demonstration by Pertubuhan Seni Silat Gerak Harimau Laksamana.

The Subang Jaya police district headquarters conducted and exhibition on safety, while MBSJ's Health Department held an exhibition on dengue prevention and eradication.

The council said the programme is expected to serve as a platform for Subang Jaya residents in embracing a healthy lifestyle, while supporting MBSJ's agenda towards a low-carbon city.
