Tourlist digital platform officially launched today

KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 — Tourism Licencing And Enforcement System (Tourlist), a digital platform to facilitate end-to-end online tourism industry licence applications, was officially launched today.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan said among the services offered were the automation of applications for hotel and spa registration and grading and the automatic approval of tourist guide exemption application.

He said other services are issuance of computer-generated licences, effective management of complaints and online payment.

"The Tourlist System can be accessed from anywhere either through the website or mobile apps that have been adapted to match technological developments. Tourism Industry data management in the Tourlist system is also equipped with Business Intelligence (BI) features through RapidMiner software," he said at the launch of Tourlist here today

Last November 9, the Tourlist platform, a project under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) was set up to replace the Tourism Industry Licencing System (SPIP).

Khairul Firdaus said that since Tourlist went live, a total of 6,256 complaints were received and of the number, 98.8 per cent were successfully resolved leaving only 74 complaints or 1.2 per cent still active.

"Most of the complaints are on problems of data quality as this data is migrated from the old system. These complaints can be said to be manageable and are expected to be further reduced with the cooperation of all parties.

"Tourlist has also recorded a very impressive revenue of RM2.1 million with a total of 18,082 transactions as of 2023 second quarter. This shows an increase in revenue compared to 2022 and 2021. The revenue collection this year is expected to be well above what has been achieved in previous years," he said.

In addition, he said Tourlist also functions as a digital platform for the management of tourism industry enforcement activities that work in integration with other government agencies such as the Public Complaints Bureau; Road Transport Department (RTD); Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM); Consumer Claims Tribunal Malaysia (TTPM); Immigration Department of Malaysia and other related agencies.

He said throughout 2022, a total of 393 enforcement operations were conducted with 71 inspection notices issued to tourism operators throughout Malaysia, adding that in the first quarter of 2023, Motac recorded 113 enforcement operations with 69 inspection notices issued nationwide.
