SERI KEMBANGAN, June 12 — The state government's business coaching programme (Grow) has been expanded to single mothers and low income earners (B40), as part of a larger bid to assist them generate their own income.
Executive councillor for entrepreneur development Rodziah Ismail said they will receive guidance in conducting business under the programme organised by the Selangor State Indian Entrepreneur Development (Sitham), through Yayasan Hijrah Selangor (Hijrah).
"We don't want participants to merely take part in the programme and obtain a certificate. Instead, they should be able to benefit from initiatives offered by Sitham and Hijrah.
"These include equipment assistance, skills courses, as well as entrepreneurship development training that can help uplift the economic status of the Indian community in Selangor."
She said this at the Grow Jahitan officiating ceremony at Pusat Menjahit Sai Rani, here, yesterday.
Also present were senior secretary to the executive councillor Hanafi Sudi, Hijrah acting chief executive officer Normaiza Yahya and Sitham manager Kenneth Sam.
Sitham was launched in September 2019, focusing on assisting Indian entrepreneurs who are committed to growing their businesses, by providing them guidance, grants and equipment.
It offers four different programmes, namely Grow, entrepreneur development training, skills and production courses, and business equipment assistance programme.
