SHAH ALAM, June 11 — The Kompleks Sukan Shah Alam (KSSA) development project covering 76.08 hectares will begin construction in October this year.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the project, which was supposed to begin this month, had to be postponed due to the state government's decision to continue discussions in order to obtain the most effective cost.

"It was decided in the previous Selangor Economic Action Council (MTES) meeting, so we will try to see the work commence in October.

"We needed to take time. Although it should have started in the sixth month, we still wanted to discuss things so as to get a better price from the company. It depends on the construction quality, and so on," he said.

Amirudin was speaking to the press following the presentation ceremony of Inisiatif Roda Darul Ehsan's assistance funds, Festival Belia Selangor at Dataran Karnival Stadium Shah Alam yesterday.

He added the state government is currently carrying out the process of issuing the Planning Permission for the sports complex's redevelopment.

The public-private partnership project is still expected to be completed in 2026, but will experience a slight delay in contrast to the original date set before.

"It will be completed in 2026, but it may be slightly delayed, around the mid or third quarter of that year.

"As for the demolition of Stadium Shah Alam, it is expected to be carried out in September or October, as it is not an easy process," Amirudin said.

KSSA's redevelopment is expected to cost around RM787 million. From 2013 until last year, RM56 million was set aside for maintenance and damage repairs.
