Body of man reported missing in Bagan Lalang found

PUTRAJAYA, June 5 — The body of a man who was reported missing while trying to save two girls who were drowned while swimming at Bagan Lalang beach in Sepang yesterday, was found at about 9.30am today.

Sepang district deputy police chief Supt Md Noor Aehwan Mohammad said the body of Muhammad Faizal Mahasan, 29, was found floating by the public on the beach near the Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort.

“The body was then brought to the beach at about 9.50 this morning for an examination by the Ministry of Health (MOH) official who then confirmed the death,” he said in a statement today.

Md Noor Aehwan said the body was taken to Serdang Hospital for post-mortem.

Yesterday, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre (PGO) reported that two girls, aged nine and seven, drowned while a man in his 30s went missing while swimming at Bagan Lalang beach.

The district deputy police chief said the department received the report yesterday at about 2.34 pm and mobilised search-and-rescue (SAR) operations.

The SAR operation resumed at about 7 this morning using two lifeboats and was followed by a search operation along the coastal area.
