SHAH ALAM, May 15 — The Unity Government National Convention, combining various political parties, is proof of the consensus among its top leadership, said Selangor Pakatan Harapan chairman cum Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said this aspect will do away with the claims of disunity and the coalition's collapse, as certain quarters have alleged.
"The result of this convention is a firm consensus among the parties' main leaders, as well as eliminating any allegations of division.
"This is a good sign as it indicates the unity government is prepared to sit at one table, map out and plan their steps, forgo several differences, and find common ground to restore Malaysia until the end of the (present Federal government's) term," Amirudin said.
He was speaking to the press during the Selangor State Development Corporation's Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house, at the Shah Alam Convention Centre earlier today.
The Menteri Besar added the convention had an impact on resolving issues which had been causing tensions among all quarters.
"The impact of this convention has been positive where it concerns the seat negotiations, including those finalized on the Federal level.
"Basic issues were resolved with good governance, prudent administration, courtesy to the people, and concern for the needy," he said.
The inaugural convention, themed Madani Mewajahi Masa Depan Malaysia, took place at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Center and brought together 10,000 delegates from 19 political parties in the unity government's coalition.
