SHAH ALAM, May 11 — The state government is aiming to reach more than 20,000 babies in Selangor, to receive the RM100 a year benefit in savings until they reach the age of five, via the Iltizam Anak Selangor (ANAS) initiative this year.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the contributions to each child will be placed in the Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional (SSPN) Prime account for five years, as part of the efforts to help prepare for their education.
"The 2023 Selangor Budget has allocated RM3 million to realise ANAS, with a target of 30,000 babies receiving RM500.
"A total of 7,654 babies born in Selangor from last year until March this year qualify to receive RM100 in savings annually until they are five years old. This assistance is still open to more than 20,000 babies until the end of 2023.
"This is one of the state government's efforts to safeguard the future welfare of our children," he said in a Facebook post yesterday.
Amirudin added that applications are open to babies born in Selangor starting in 2022, who are also residents of the state and are Malaysian citizens.
Applications can be made at anas.yawas.com.my.
Based on six application steps, parents with a newborn child can now stand a chance to receive RM500 in ANAS savings.
