KUALA SELANGOR, May 11 — Over 796,000 trees have been planted in Selangor today, as part of a national greening effort via the 100 Million Tree Planting Campaign 2021 - 2025.

Selangor Forestry Department director Azhar Ahmad said the number of trees will continue to rise, in light of the positive feedback received over the campaign.

"Anyone can register if they are carrying out tree planting. Members of the public or (government) agencies are encouraged to participate in the campaign.

"They can register on the campaign website if they have planted trees. We aim to plant 100 million trees, and as such welcome the participation of all quarters," he said following a visit with the National Dialogue Global Environment Facility Cycle-8 (GEF-8) delegation to the Raja Musa Forest Reserve yesterday.

A total of 80 delegates from various agencies, including from abroad, took part in the visit which aims to foster awareness of the conservation and preservation of peat swamp forests in Selangor.

The 100 Million Tree Planting Campaign 2021 - 2025 is the government's effort to increase general awareness of the importance of green cover areas and forests, for general well-being and quality of life.

It also helps to improve the country's ecosystem and biodiversity with the planting of various types of trees.
