Aidilfitri: Mavcom conducts inspections at KLIA, Subang Airport to ensure smooth operations

KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 — Nearly 700,000 passengers are expected to travel during the Aidilfitri festive period based on the number of flights approved by the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom), said Mavcom executive chairman Datuk Seri Saripuddin Kasim.

As such, he said Mavcom had conducted surprise inspections at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 and 2 as well as Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (LTSAAS) in Subang, beginning April 17, to ensure smooth operations and passengers’ comfort.

“The inspections found that the level of preparedness of both airlines and airport operators at all passenger touchpoints is satisfactory in anticipation of the increase in passenger traffic.

“Mavcom will continue to carry out its inspections and engage airlines as well as airport operators to ensure that this level of service persists throughout the Hari Raya travel period,” he said in a statement yesterday.

According to the statement, Mavcom, in a letter issued to all Malaysian carriers and airport operators on April 14, reminded industry players to consistently ensure operational readiness and prevent any disruption in passengers’ journeys.

Mavcom also prompted airlines to adhere to their published flight schedules and approved slots, while airport operators were reminded to adhere to the set service level standards.

At the same time, Mavcom urged consumers to register their complaints with the airline or airport operator should a flight disruption occur.

Saripuddin said if the response provided by the airline or airport operator is unsatisfactory, consumers can lodge a complaint on the sub-brand’s website, FlySmart, at www.flysmart.my, or the FlySmart mobile app.

The statement added that consumers may also contact Mavcom’s consumer hotline at 1800-18-6966 for calls within Malaysia or +603-7651 2777 for calls outside of Malaysia.
