MBSJ: 2,253 dengue cases recorded in 12 hotspots last week

SHAH ALAM, April 19 — Some 2,253 cases of dengue fever were registered by the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) throughout the previous week.

Its deputy mayor Mohd Zulkurnain Che Ali said that a 1,064 increase in cases was recorded compared to the same period last year, involving 12 hotspots, including nine multi-storey residences.

“Everyone, including the residential management, is responsible for keeping their respective areas clean and free from Aedes mosquito breeding.

“We urge the public to spend at least 10 minutes a week finding and eliminating mosquito breeding grounds. With this effort, their residential areas will no longer be a dengue hotspot,” he said.

Mohd Zulkurnain added that the public, especially those who reside in locations prone to outbreaks, is also urged to spray aerosols inside the premises and wear insect repellents when outside.
