SHAH ALAM, April 17 — Another 100 residents in the Permatang state constituency were given Jom Shopping Aidilfitri vouchers worth RM200 on Saturday (April 15).
Its state assemblyman Rozana Zainal Abidin said the vouchers, collectively worth RM20,000, were handed to the recipients during the second presentation session at Fresh BestMart Supermarket in Tanjong Karang.
"A recipient can use the voucher to purchase essential items for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festival, which will soon be upon us in less than a week," she said in a Facebook post.
On April 1, the state constituency allocated RM90,000 for Jom Shopping Aidilfitri vouchers, aimed at 450 residents.
The 2023 Selangor Budget has allocated a total of RM16.48 million for the programme, which is expected to benefit up to 82,400 recipients.
Jom Shopping is an initiative implemented in conjunction with the nation's three main festivals of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, and Deepavali, and is meant to ease the burden of poor or B40 families in purchasing essential goods.
The vouchers' value was also increased from RM100 to RM200, following the economic situation and the needs of the people.
