SHAH ALAM, April 14 — The state government will organise the Ehsan Aidilftri Mega Sale starting tomorrow (April 15) until April 20 in 23 locations, said the state executive councillor for infrastructure and public amenities, agriculture modernisation and agro-based industry Izham Hashim.
The six-day sale, held in collaboration with the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS), the state Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama), and Koperasi Warga Hijrah Selangor Berhad (KoHijrah), will enable the public to enjoy savings of up to 30 per cent on five basic food products, including chicken, eggs, meat, rice and cooking oil.
He said that standard chicken with an average weight of 1.8kg will be sold at RM10 each, compared to the current market price of RM17 while Grade B eggs will be sold at RM10 per tray, compared to the current market price of RM13.90.
“For fresh meat, it will be sold at RM35 per kg compared with the current market price of RM42 per kg, rice at RM10 for a 5kg pack and 5kg of cooking oil will be sold at RM25,” Izham said in a statement today.
In the same statement, PKPS group chief executive officer Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi said this sale is a continuation of the Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat (JER) affordable basic necessities sales programme, which has been implemented by PKPS since September last year.
“Alhamdulillah, JER received a very encouraging response with fresh products sold out in almost all sales locations. We are trying to get more stock of fresh products to help ease the burden of the people of B40 in Selangor,” he said.
