KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 — Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari has described the RM5 million allocation from the Local Government Development Ministry (KPKT) for the 77 new villages in Selangor, which was announced on Friday, as a bonus for the state.
The Menteri Besar said the allocation can stimulate economic growth by developing a number of plans and initiatives, as well as enhancing infrastructure and promoting the new villages in the state.
“Yesterday (Friday) KPKT (Nga Kor Ming) visited the (Selangor New Village) festival and announced a RM5 million allocation for 77 new villages in Selangor. I would like to thank the federal government for such generous funding.
“The allocation will be managed by state executive councillor for new villages Ng Sze Han, who will be in charge of ensuring that the funds provided are used to meet the priorities for the new villages,” he said told the press when met after visiting the Selangor New Village Festival at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, here yesterday.
Also present were Ng and Primary Industries Minister Teresa Kok.
The three-day festival which began on Friday has targeted 10,000 visitors attending the event.
The festival features various exhibitions including types of new villages in Selangor, the history of the villages, the handicrafts of the villagers, forums and performances for the community to appreciate the splendour of Selangor’s new villages.
