SHAH ALAM, April 3 — The Gombak Setia state constituency has distributed RM16,000 to seven suraus for outreach programmes during the ongoing Ramadan fasting month.
Its coordinator A Rahim Kasdi said the suraus were selected for the funds, as they did not receive assistance from Selangor Islamic Religious Council since they are still being registered.
"We provided assistance via the allocation from the coordinating office, particularly for small suraus in villages, who will be able to enjoy Ramadan this year," he said.
Rahim was speaking during a ceremony at Surau Haji Salim in Kampung Gombak Tengah yesterday, where he presented a RM2,000 cheque to Surau Ar-Rasa and Madrasah Al Zahrah. The four other suraus have already received their donated funds.
The political secretary to the Menteri Besar also spent time with the congregation discussing current issues.
"Some of the matters that were discussed included the issue of surau registration, as well as requests to improve and repair the facilities and infrastructure of each surau," he said.
