SHAH ALAM, April 3 — The Permatang state constituency has allocated RM90,000 for the Jom Shopping Perayaan vouchers for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive period, which were received by 450 residents on Saturday (April 1).
Its state assemblyman Rozana Zainal Abidin said the recipients can utilise the RM200 vouchers at the Fresh BestMart supermarket in Tanjong Karang.
"I hope these vouchers will ameliorate the recipients' burdens when they prepare for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which will soon be upon us," she said when contacted.
Separately, Rozana said RM10,000 has been allocated to organise a wide variety of programmes and contributions, throughout the Ramadan fasting month.
"This fund was distributed to mosques and suraus, for a number of purposes including distributing dates, cooking, and distributing bubur lambuk to surrounding residents," she said.
Under the 2023 Selangor Budget tabled on November 25 last year, RM16.48 million has been allocated for the Jom Shopping programme and is expected to benefit 82,400 recipients.
It is structured around Malaysia’s three main festivals and is meant for lower-income families to purchase festive goods.
In addition to the value increase the eligibility threshold for recipients has also been changed from a monthly household income of RM2,000 and below to RM3,000.
