PETALING JAYA, April 2 — The Bandar Utama state constituency will provide Jom Shopping Hari Raya Aidilfitri vouchers worth RM200 each to 500 of its residents, for the upcoming festive season.
Its state assemblyman Jamaliah Jamaluddin said the distribution of the vouchers to eligible recipients is expected to commence next week in stages.
"The application process for the vouchers closed on March 30, with a total of 500 recipients qualifying to receive them.
"Currently we are still reviewing the actual number of eligible recipients since there were some who personally came forward to apply for it, in addition to applications submitted via Google Drive," she said to SelangorKini.
Jamaliah was speaking after inspecting the Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat affordable basic necessities sales roadshow, operated by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS), at Kampung Cempaka's basketball court yesterday afternoon.
She added the state constituency will prioritise Bandar Utama voters with a monthly household income of RM2,000 and below.
The 2023 Selangor Budget has allocated RM16.48 million for the Jom Shopping, which is expected to benefit approximately 82,400 recipients.
It is implemented in tandem with the three major festivals of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, and Deepavali, and is aimed at lower-income families for the purchase of essential goods.
Earlier on, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the Jom Shopping Perayaan voucher rate would be increased to RM200 from RM100 per family, based on the economic situation and the needs of the people.
