SHAH ALAM, March 25 — The ongoing work to replace and widen the Sungai Batang Kali bridge in Hulu Selangor is expected to be completed by September 6, said Kuala Kubu Bharu state assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong.
She said at present, the project's physical work schedule has now reached 81 per cent.
"The work, which commenced on April 30, 2018, at the cost of RM32 million, will have five lanes.
"This is expected to resolve the issue of traffic congestion, especially from Rasa to Batang Kali," Lee said in a Facebook post.
Originally slated for completion on April 29, 2020, the work was delayed due to several technical problems, including the delay in approving the transfer of utilities as well as the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Other factors include additional post-pandemic initiatives concerning government work contracts, which led to the project's extension of time.
On May 16, 2019, the state government allocated RM69.2 million in funds for the Hulu Selangor district.
Of this amount, RM40 million went to a physical project under the purview of the Public Works Department, while RM29.2 million went to infrastructure facilities under the roads project, for the convenience of the district's residents.
