KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 — The Dewan Rakyat's second meeting of the second session of the 15th Parliament will now be held from May 22 to June 15, 2023, having been brought forward from June.
"It was originally scheduled for June 12 to June 27, 2023," Speaker Datuk Johari Abdul announced today.
He made the announcement during the debate session on the Supply Bill 2023 at the committee stage for the Ministry of Transport, in the Dewan Rakyat.
Johari said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the leader of the House had agreed to the change, in line with Standing Order 11(2) of the Dewan Rakyat Standing Orders.
"This follows my request to the Prime Minister because many members of Parliament will be performing the Hajj in Mecca this year, and need to make appropriate preparations as Hari Raya Aidiladha is expected to fall on June 29, 2023," he said.
The first meeting of the Lower House ends on April 4.
