SHAH ALAM, March 14 — The existence of a floating solar farm at Tasik Cyberjaya will enhance the aesthetic value and capabilities of the smart city, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said a unique and smart approach to solar energy development by Worldwide Holdings Berhad (Worldwide Holdings) also enhances Cyberjaya’s brand and reputation.
Adding, he said the initiative could turn the city into a digital business centre that offers reliable and stable green energy solutions.
“It will also attract investors and businesses committed to sustainability aspects.
“I greatly appreciate the initiatives shown by Worldwide Holdings and all related companies to develop and leverage gree energy solutions in Cyberjaya, through power generation from floating solar farms to be developed at Tasik Cyberjaya,” he said in a statement which was read by Selangor State Secretary Dato’ Haris Kasim during the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony for solar energy development in Selangor between Worldwide Holdings and several companies at Glenmarie Hotel and Golf Resort, here yesterday.
Earlier, Worldwide Holdings had signed four MoUs with several companies to collaborate in the development of solar energy projects in Selangor.
Two MoUs signed by Worldwide Holdings with Cyberview Sdn Bhd, Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor, Global Energy Storage Malaysia dan PKNS Real Estate Sdn Bhd involve the development of independent power plants that will generate energy from the floating solar farms at Tasik Cyberjaya.
The development of the free power plant project that will generate energy from the floating solar farm at Tasik Cyberjaya is under the Corporate Green Energy Programme (CGPP) at a cost of about RM100 million to start this year.
