State govt actively cooperates with private sector to ensure smooth development of southern region

KUALA LANGAT, March 6 — The state government actively continues discussions with private sectors to make several projects in the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (Idriss) a success.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the effort was to ensure that the implementation of projects included in the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) involving Kuala Langat and Sepang districts would run smoothly.

“So far, (Idriss) has not reached the level of planning permission (but) we are having discussions with several parties, including preparing a follow-up area in Kuala Langat.

"In Sepang, (the project) is more of a Space Park and is still in discussion with Sime Darby and other parties because it involves private land.

"Overall, there are many projects such as (the construction of) Jalan Sungai Cucur and Missing Link in Kota Warisan because RS-1 is a combination of state government and private projects with Selangor acting as a coordinator if there is a problem,” he said when met after launching the Kuala Langat Jelajah Kita Selangor Penyayang roadshow at Banting Waterfront, here yesterday.

Amirudin said that from next year onwards, the state government will prepare a half-term plan to make the project under RS-1 a success.

"We completed the Selangor Implementation and Performance Monitoring Unit (Siap) in the resettlement session last month.

"Siap will monitor the extent to which the entire RS-1 project is progressing apart from the constraints and how (to overcome the constraints)," he said.

Idriss is among the agenda contained in RS-1 which was announced last July to develop Sepang and Kuala Langat.

The two districts were identified for regional-based development to ensure equitable distribution of the state's economic activities.

Development projects are proposed, such as the industrial sector, logistics and warehousing services, ports, businesses, housing, tourism and education.
