Zulkapli Mohamed appointed as new PSD D-G

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 27 — Datuk Zulkapli Mohamed has been appointed as the Director-General of the Public Service Department (PSD) effective today (February 27), said the Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN), Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali.

Zulkapli, 58, was earlier deputy director-general (Development) in the Public Service Department.

Mohd Zuki in a statement today said the appointment has received the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

The appointment was based on the vast experience of Zulkapli in various fields, including policies, management and services in the development of human capital.

"I am confident that with the knowledge and credibility that he possesses, he is able to carry the trust and responsibility in supporting efforts and ensuring that public sector reforms are in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI," he said.

Zulkapli has served in public service for 31 years, and his first position was assistant secretary in the Training Division on December 1, 1992.

He had also served as the chief executive officer at Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp) as well as the Sabah federal secretary at the Sabah Federal Secretary's Office.

Zulkapli graduated with a Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) from Universiti Sains Malaysia, a Master's Degree in International Development from the University of Japan and a Doctorate in Economics (International Finance) from Meiji University, Japan.

On December 12 2022, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafiq Abdullah's service as PSD DG was terminated in accordance with Regulation 49(3) of the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993 [P.U. (A) 395/1993].
