SHAH ALAM, Feb 24 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has recorded approximately 1,093 cases of dengue fever within a week, since February 12.

Deputy Mayor of Subang Jaya Mohd Zulkurnain Che Ali said this was an increase of 372 cases, compared to 721 cases recorded for the same period last year.

"The hotspot which recorded the highest number of dengue cases is Desa Minium Rimba in Lestari Perdana, with 35 cases over an 87-day period.

"Due to the increase in dengue cases, a special integrated operation commenced on February 15 and will run until March 22, wherein MBSJ the District Health Office and related agencies will cooperate to handle them," he said during MBSJ's monthly meeting yesterday.

Mohd Zulkurnain also urged Subang Jaya residents to continue to take care of their surrounding environment, and ensure cases of dengue fever can be reduced.

"Members of the public are requested to continue ensuring the areas and surroundings of their respective premises are clean and free from Aedes mosquitoes' breeding grounds.

"Take at least 10 minutes weekly to search for and destroy Aedes breeding grounds," he said.
