SHAH ALAM, Feb 22 — Six state legislative assemblies, including that of Selangor's, are slated to be dissolved in the middle of June, said Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.
In a Facebook post, he said the decision was made after a meeting between the Menteri Besar and Chief Minister of the states, following the 261st Conference Of Rulers’ meeting at Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur, earlier today.
"Alhamdulillah, the six of us took the opportunity for a light meal in Kuala Lumpur, during the course of the two-day Conference Of Rulers’ meeting.
"In brief, we have mutually agreed to consider dissolving our respective state legislative assemblies, within the last two weeks of June 2023," Amirudin said.
He added the agreement will be passed on and discussed on the party levels of each Menteri Besar and Chief Minister, before being presented to the respective Sultans or Yang di-Pertua Negeri for assent.
"May this agreement bring ease to the people's efforts to uphold democracy in the future, InsyaAllah," Amirudin said.
The other participants of the meeting included Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob, and Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
