Police bust drug syndicate, seize over RM4 mln in heroin

SHAH ALAM, Feb 20 — Police have busted a drug distribution syndicate with the seizure of RM4.05 million worth of heroin, following the arrest of three male suspects in Klang and Kupang, Kedah.

Acting Selangor police chief Datuk S. Sasikala Devi said the suspects, aged between 37 and 53 were arrested in three separate raids on Wednesday (February 15).

The first suspect was detained by a team from the Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department arrested around Klang at 3.30pm.

She said the team seized a black plastic bag containing 10 pieces of compressed heroin weighing 3.8kg in the Mercedes Benz car driven by the suspect.

An interrogation of the first suspect led police to a house in Kapar, Klang, on the same day, where they arrested another suspect at 9.10pm.

“We also seized 113 pieces of compressed heroin weighing 42.94 kg,” Sasikala Devi told a press conference at the Selangor police contingent headquarters, here today.

In a follow-up operation, the police arrested a man at a house in Kupang, Kedah on the same day.

“All the suspects have been remanded for seven days from February 16 under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code and Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act,” she said.

In another development, Sasikala Devi said the police are still waiting for a report from Selayang Hospital regarding the stabbing incident involving a psychiatric patient that took place at the hospital’s emergency department last Tuesday.

“We have yet to record statements from the suspect as he is not in a suitable condition to be interviewed. The suspect is undergoing treatment at the Selayang Hospital’s psychiatric ward,” she added.
