KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 17 — The Energy Commission (ST) has announced the appointment of Mohammed Rashdan Mohd Yusof as its new chairman effective February 15, replacing Datuk Aizan Osman on the approval by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
ST said Mohammed Rashdan has a Master's degree with honours in Economics from the University of Cambridge, England and began his career as an accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in 1992.
“He has extensive experience in the economic sector and company management, especially in the field of corporate restructuring and investment banking, having served as the deputy managing director of the Gamuda group from 2018," it said in a statement today.
ST said he had also served as QuantePhi Sdn Bhd managing director for six years from 2012 and executive director of investments at Khazanah Nasional Berhad for two years from 2010.
In addition, he was also the chief executive officer and a member of the Board of Directors at Maybank Investment Bank for two years from 2008 and ST welcomes his leadership to take ST’s agenda to a higher level.
ST also expressed its gratitude to its former chairman, Aizan for his services throughout his tenure from May 8, 2020 to February 14, 2023.
“Throughout his time as ST chairman, he has contributed a lot in terms of experience and insightful ideas towards achieving ST’s aspirations, vision and mission," it said.
