SHAH ALAM, Feb 2 — Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari will provide details on the cost of redeveloping the Shah Alam Stadium after the exhibition and public engagement sessions related to it are completed on February 10.

The information will be made available by the end of this month or early March.

"I have experts in determining the estimate, if we look at the stadium alone, it is around RM700 million to RM800 million, but if we look at the whole complex, it will probably be more because we will have parks, tourism and recreation areas and so on and we will also build a hotel.

"If we compare stadium to stadium, I believe it is more than RM700 million and less than RM1 billion," he said.

Amirudin was speaking to the press, in response to the statement by Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) team owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who described the cost of RM700 million for the reconstruction of the Shah Alam Stadium as illogical.

Earlier, Amirudin had launched the Kita Ke Kampung #produkkampung4u' programme at the State Secretariat Building.

He added that he will also make an announcement about the land that will be exchanged by the state government with the developer, Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB), for the new stadium complex.

"The initial plan was to change the unused land in the stadium area, but now our plan has changed a little because we will develop the entire stadium area. MRCB will develop this area at their cost first until it (the project) is completed, then we will reimburse at a commensurate cost," Amirudin said.

Meanwhile, commenting on the Kita Ke Kampung programme, the Menteri Besar said the programme under the state's Rural Development Standing Committee was an effort to introduce products produced in rural areas in Selangor involving 4,000 rural entrepreneurs in the state.

"Within four to five years of the running of this programme, we will do a study to see the positive effects. I believe with the addition of marketing and so on, they can achieve a minimum of 20 per cent increase in turnover," he said.
