GOMBAK, Feb 2 — The Gombak Setia state constituency has received more than 1,000 new applications for the Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE) scheme for senior citizens, as of last month.
Its community service centre's operations officer Din Yahaya said he expects more applications will be coming in, as the process is fairly easy.
"Public response has been very encouraging, and we anticipate more people coming forward to apply.
"We hope many of the residents will continue to benefit, not only from this scheme, but also from other schemes," he told SelangorKini yesterday.
Din added that so far 1,600 recipients, both existing and new, have since received their respective vouchers.
Under SMUE, applicants are eligible for a RM150 shopping voucher on their birthday, as well as RM500 in death benefits.
