SHAH ALAM, Jan 31 — The Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) has recorded approximately 594 cases of dengue fever in a three-week period, from the beginning of the year until January 21.

Council President Najmuddin Jemain said Hulu Langat dengue cases have increased by 54 per cent this year, compared to 461 cases for the same period last year.

All the recorded cases involved 63 outbreak localities, with eight hot spot locations identified.

"The hotspot localities include four in the Sungai Ramal state constituency, and one in state constituencies of Semenyih, Kajang, Dusun Tua, and Balakong, respectively," he said during MPKj's monthly meeting yesterday.

Najmuddin added the outbreak's current situation means that Hulu Langat is the second-highest district in Selangor, at 853 cases and no deaths reported.
