AMPANG JAYA, Jan 20 — Four risky slopes in Ampang have been installed with Early Warning Systems, to monitor soil movement that might cause landslide incidents.

State executive councillor for housing and urban wellbeing Rodziah Ismail said the areas include Taman Mega Jaya, Taman Seraya, Taman Wangsa 1, and Taman Bukit Jaya.

“The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) will monitor the system and will mobilise its team for slope stabilisation works at said locations, to avoid any landslide incidents.

“However, the effort to prevent landslides is not solely MPAJ’s duty but also requires strong commitment from land owners, whether it belongs to private companies or individuals,” she said after the public dialogue programme with Ampang residents yesterday.

Also present was MPAJ president Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim, MPAJ Engineering Department director Zafrul Fazry Mohd Fauzi, Hulu Langat District Officer Ani Ahmad, and Ampang district police representative DSP Mohamad Fisol Abdullah.

Rodziah, who is also Ampang MP, supported the idea of establishing a community where people can share information related to landslides, including its early signs.

“If there are unexpected signs, the community ca inform MPAJ for further action,” she said.
