SHAH ALAM, Jan 19 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) bagged three excellence awards from the Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP) on January 16.

Its Corporate and Public Relations head Shahrin Ahmad said the local council received the MIP Planning Excellence Award (MIPPEA 2022) in a ceremony held at the Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

According to Shahrin, the awards are given to the MBSA in appreciation of their commitment to executing imaginative projects that have planning, design, and development components and serve the general public.

“Two of the awards that we received were Silver Awards for Shah Alam Free Carbon 2035 Action Plan (Town Category) and Setia Alam Impian ‘Arts-inspired Living’ (Excellence Design Category).

"Another was the Bronze Award for Local Strategic Planning for International Reporting (Strategic Planning Category)," he said, adding that the awards were accepted by Shah Alam mayor Dr Nor Fuad Abdul Hamid and his deputy, Cheremi Tarman.

“Hopefully the recognition will boost our spirit to continue providing the best service to the local community and stakeholders,” he said.
