SHAH ALAM, Jan 8 — The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) has denied allegations that have gone viral on social media that there has been a data leak from its website.

The local authority said it has implemented appropriate measures to ensure that no intrusion could occur in its system.

"We always take appropriate actions to ensure that there is no intrusion into the MPK system.

"The allegations are considered as an attempt to damage the good name of MPK," it said in a Facebook post.

MPK explained that it has also implemented continuous data security monitoring using an effective security infrastructure.

"The MPK Information Technology Department has also referred to the National Cyber Security Agency (Nacsa) and Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT Selangor) regarding this matter," it said.

On December 30, the Communications and Digital Ministry (KKD) took the alleged data leakage involving 13 million Malaysians through a website seriously and ordered that access to the site be blocked.
