Inaugural, revolutional industrial factory project at Idriss

SHAH ALAM, Jan 3 — The Integrated Development Region In South Selangor (Idriss) is expected to start this year with a gross development value (GDV) of RM1 trillion.

State executive councillor for investment Dato' Teng Chang Khim said nine projects were identified in Sepang and Kuala Langat involving the use of 40,000 acres of land.

He also said that one project has already obtained conditional planning permission, which is the NCT Smart Industrial Park in Kuala Langat, to build a 700-acre industrial revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) concept factory.

"Meanwhile, the Sepang Gold Coast Global Village in Sepang which involves 900 acres of land is in the final evaluation process by the Technical Department before submitting for planning permission.

"The (implementation) expectation for this project is to be in this year, as soon as the conditions are met, it can start at any time. I believe there has not yet been any project in Malaysia whose total (GDV) has reached RM1 trillion," he said when contacted.

Teng added, the development of related projects is carried out by private sectors through incentives offered by the Selangor government and the central government at appropriate rates.

"For the state, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari will announce comprehensive details by this month on what incentives are offered (to developers).

"Surely the incentives offered will excite developers, in addition to the project involved being quite large in size," he said.

Idriss is among the agenda contained in the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) announced last July to develop Sepang and Kuala Langat.

The two districts were identified for regional-based development to ensure equitable distribution of the state's economic activities.

Development projects proposed are such as the industrial sector, logistics and warehousing services, ports, businesses, housing, tourism and education.
