MPKS builds retaining wall at Bukit Malawati

SHAH ALAM, Dec 28 — The Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS) has started building a retaining wall against a damaged slope following a landslide at Bukit Malawati in Kuala Selangor on Sunday.

MPKS deputy secretary Ahmad Jamzuri Mujaini said the construction of the five-metre-high concrete wall would be completed at the end of next month.

"The MPKS will also request the expertise of the Public Works Department (JKR) or other local authorities (PBT) to provide advisory services related to the planning and management of hilly or sloping areas," he told Bernama.

The landslide that occurred at the tourist centre was caused by a 50-year-old tree that fell down due to heavy rain and the roots lose their grip on the rocky soil.

It has been temporarily closed starting yesterday for repair works by the local authority following the landslide incident.
