KOTA BHARU, Dec 28 — The state government will marshal the Selangor Volunteers (Serve) and the Special Action Squads (Pantas) for post-flood humanitarian aid missions in Kelantan and Terengganu in January.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said they are coordinating the mission with their Kelantan and Terengganu counterparts, to facilitate the smooth operations of cleaning works in the affected areas.

"On Monday (December 26) the state disaster management unit met with the management of both states. We will see the coordination of teams (Serve and Pantas) in helping the public cleaning process, particularly once the floods have receded by 80 to 90 per cent

"So the post-flood relief mission will be done in January with the teams alongside NGOs in both states. We want it to be carried out in an orderly manner, with no overlap and able to bring a good impact," he said yesterday.

Earlier on, Amirudin presented the #KitaSelangor flood aid mock cheque worth RM500,000 to Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob at his official residence in Kampung Sireh at Kota Bahru.

Also in attendance was Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah and Selangor state executive councillor for human capital development Mohd Khairuddin Othman.

The Menteri Besar said the state government will mobilise as many members of Serve and Pantas as possible, as it involves two states.

"We will divide them into two teams. So we are currently arranging, and in a day or two we should be prepared," he said.

On December 20, Amirudin said the state government, via Pantas and Serve, are ready to serve in any form of post-flood humanitarian aid, as soon as the situation permits.
