SHAH ALAM, Dec 22 — The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) will focus on the development of downtown Klang, as part of its preparations to achieve city status by 2023.
Its President Noraini Roslan said among the challenges MPK faces includes the need to upgrade the royal city's infrastructure, particularly old buildings.
"Klang City is old and its geographical position on the coast and river valley increases the risks of flooding.
"As such, stakeholders' cooperation from all sides is crucial in carrying out their respective roles and responsibilities efficiently and with integrity, so that progress can be achieved without sacrificing Klang's environment, culture and heritage," she said.
Speaking at the monthly plenary meeting, Noraini said nine MPK departments will undergo the first stage of the Sirim Anti-Corruption Management System certification audit on December 27 and December 28.
The president also expressed her appreciation to the 2021/2022 session council members, whose service ends on December 31.
"On behalf of MPK, I express my highest appreciation and fulsome thanks to all councillors who have devoted much time in service and collaborated in developing the city of Klang," Noraini said.
