SHAH ALAM, Dec 21 — The Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) is preparing to mobilise its Special Action Squad (Pantas) to flood-affected states, especially in Terengganu and Kelantan.

Its president Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim said the preparations for humanitarian aid were made at the end of last month, and have taken into account previous post-flood experiences.

“Based on our previous experiences, MPKL usually sends 15 people. We are also ready with some assets including a boat that we bought ourselves as a rescue aid initiative. So far, we have five boats such as a Kimple and a Fiber, and if needed we will bring them as well,” he said when contacted.

Meanwhile, Subang Jaya mayor Datuk Johary Anuar said the Subang Jaya City Council’s (MBSJ) Pantas Squad and volunteers are also ready to be deployed.

“The dispatch of the Pantas Squad depends on the situation and instructions from the state authorities. For now, the main focus is monitoring MBSJ’s areas in case of heavy rains and floods,” he said.

Klang Municipal Council (MPK) Corporate Communications director Norfiza Mahfiz said her team is only waiting for instructions to send the relevant people and volunteers.

“We are always prepared and focus on post-flood assistance, including cleaning, usage of machineries and so on,” she said.

Yesterday, the state government extended financial assistance amounting to RM500,000 each to Kelantan and Terengganu who are currently facing flood disasters.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the #KitaSelangor2022 Flood Assistance Donation is given as a sign of sympathy to the plight of tens of thousands victims affected by the disaster.

In addition, he said the state government is also ready to help out in any form of post-flood humanitarian aid through the Pantas Squads and Selangor Volunteers (Serve).
