KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 14 — Chief executive officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) Datuk Captain Chester Voo has tendered his resignation and his last day of service is on December 31.

CAAM chairman Tan Sri Mohd Khairul Adib Abdul Rahman said in a statement today, Voo had expressed his wish to shorten his tenure in October, but CAAM requested him to defer his resignation to enable a smooth transition in handing over his duties to the successor.

“This matter has been agreed upon by Datuk Captain Chester and he and the CAAM management have prepared a 2023 strategic plan which is complete for CAAM to ensure a positive continuity process,” he said, adding that Voo’s resignation letter has been accepted by the Minister of Transport.

Mohd Khairul said CAAM will continue the momentum that has helped the Authority to achieve several successes under Voo’s leadership, including the restoration of Category 1 status (in Malaysia’s air safety ranking) of the International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States.

CAAM also expressed its highest appreciation to Voo for his dedication, earnestness, hard work and far-reaching contribution that he has delivered during his service at CAAM, he said.
