SHAH ALAM, Dec 14 — A total of 372 individuals have received the 2022 Anak Istimewa Selangor (AnIS) assistance from January until today, involving an allocation of RM756,770.
State executive councillor for women and family development Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said the individuals include 303 who received assistance for education amounting to RM605,750, while the remaining 69 received aid for support equipments or goods amounting to RM151,020.
“This year marks the fifth year the state government has implemented this initiative to provide assistance to Selangor's special-needs children.
“The state government is concerned with the costs that parents and guardians must bear, which includes education expenses, therapy costs, as well as the purchases of support equipment and necessary medicines,” she said
Dr Siti Mariah was speaking at the closing of the AnIS Special Aid Handover Ceremony at the State Secretariat Building earlier today, where 41 recipients were presented with aid.
Since 2018 until now, the AnIS Special Assistance has benefited more that 1,500 recipients.
“The majority of aid recipients are those who have applied for education fees subsidies at intervention centres, which have become the primary choice for parents who have children with learning disabilities.
“The impact of this programme on aid recipients, especially among the underprivileged in Selangor, will help ease the expenses burden of their disabled children in terms of education or special equipment costs,” she said.
The special assistance is given as a one-time payment with a maximum limit of up to RM5,000 per family, and is open to special-needs children aged 18 and under.
