SHAH ALAM, Dec 8 — Women from the underprivileged group (B40) will have the opportunity to get free legal advice for Syariah cases through the Syariah Legal Aid Fund.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the initiative, held in collaboration with the Selangor Bar, involved an allocation of RM2 million ringgit for cases related to family and jobs.

“In 2023, the fund will be expanded to cover Syariah cases as well, aiming to help resolve family issues and domestic violence.

“The initiative is targeted to the underprivileged group and in need of legal aid to ensure their rights are protected,” he said on Facebook.

On November 25, Amirudin announced that the free legal aid scheme will be expanded to cover Syariah cases as well to help oppressed women.

Selangor emerged as the first state to provide such assistance with an allocation of RM1 million through the scheme that was established on July 24.
