Keadilan optimistic of winning 4 state seats, hold 2 parliamentary seats in Pahang

KUANTAN, Nov 16 — Parti Keadilan Rakyat (Keadilan) is optimistic of springing a surprise by winning at least four state seats in Pahang besides retaining its two parliamentary seats in the state this 15th general election (GE15).

Pahang Keadilan chairman Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said they were confident of holding the Semambu and Teruntum state seats as well as the Kuantan and Indera Mahkota parliamentary seats.

"Other seats we have potential of winning include Benta, Inderapura, Bukit Ibam, Sungai Lembing and Cheka. Our chances are better if more voters come back to vote, especially those from the capital or Selangor.

"That’s because this is where a lot of youth are concentrated and they can influence their parents if they return home,” he told reporters after attending a political talk here yesterday.

Keadilan won the Indera Mahkota parliamentary seat in GE14 through Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah, but he left for Bersatu two years later.

Amirudin also said the target Keadilan has set is not impossible to achieve, considering that they have previously sprung a surprise by winning the Chini state seat in the 1999 general election, even with a wafer thin majority of five votes.

On Keadilan’s chances in Cheka state seat, where PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (PN) is contesting, Amirudin said the Keadilan candidate representing Pakatan Harapan (PH), Assoc Prof Dr Rasid Muhamad, was someone capable of putting up a tough fight there.

Keadilan is contesting six parliamentary seats and 18 state seats out of a total of 14 parliamentary seats and 42 state seats in Pahang this GE15.
