AMPANG, Nov 13 — A more sustainable and conducive policy will be adopted for Rumah Selangorku 3.0 development projects within Klang Valley.
State executive councillor for housing Rodziah Ismail said the affordable homes approved by the Selangor State Executive Council (MMKN) last week adhere to the formula for plot ratio and the number of people per acre.
“Before this, one acre consisted of 60 units, but a unit could sometimes be occupied by five to 10 people. That is why several strata housing areas were unable to accommodate the basic facilities that they should.
“Therefore, we think the affordable housing issue must be addressed using a different approach, which is by adopting the formula of the number of people per acre, to reduce congestion.
“Each development will no longer be based on its height but also take into account the plot ratio,” she said in a dialogue with local residents at Ampang yesterday.
Rodziah added the state government will hold further discussion with the Real Estate and Housing Developers' Association (Rehda) on the matter.
“InsyaAllah, we have moved into a new era with the development of Rumah Selangorku 3.0. The important thing is, the selling price for each unit remains below RM200,000.
“We do not just build houses, but want to ensure sufficient supply so they can be offered to those who are otherwise unable to afford buying a house,” she said.
