RAWANG, Oct 21 — Members of the public have been invited to provide suggestions and ideas for the Bandar Batu Arang 2030 Special Area Plan (SAP) draft plan.
Their views can be submitted starting today until November 21, at Balai Majlis Pengurusan Komuniti Kampung in Bandar Batu Arang, the 16th floor of PlanMalaysia@Selangor's office, or the Menara Majlis Perbandaran Selayang's lobby.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the public's involvement in the SAP draft is crucial in making Batu Arang's heritage site a tourist destination, as it is in line with the aspirations of the Gombak - Hulu Langat Geopark and will bring progress to the state.
"Simultaneously it will achieve the direction of development planning which can meet the wishes and needs of all and sundry. So feedback, as well as objections, will be taken into account before the draft is finalised," he said.
Speaking at the Galeri Batu Arang earlier today, Amirudin also asked the implementing agencies to use the draft document as the basis of consideration for approval, when seeking to get certain allocations from the Federal and the state government.
The Menteri Besar added the SAP should not be viewed as a document solely meant to control development, but rather as a legal document that can be used as a medium to attract investments when developing an area.
"In fact, the SAP document enables developments to be managed in a more organised and effective manner, so as to fulfill the needs and wishes of the community, which is the main beneficiary," he said.
