SHAH ALAM, Oct 5 — The state government's initiative to hold a disater simulation and training programme is meant to prepare for the possibility of floods at the end of this year.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the programme would ensure more organised and effective communication management between various departments and agencies when dealing with disasters.
"One of the measures in preparing for flood disasters is when the state government proactively held a two-day long disaster simulation and training programme.
"All relevant central, state and district agencies were invited to attend, as the primary objective is to secure the welfare and well-being of Selangor's people," he said in a Facebook post yesterday.
The programme on September 28 saw 67 agencies and 343 participants undergo the disaster simulation and practical training at Dewan Jubli Perak of the Selangor State Secretariat Building in Shah Alam.
The State Secretary's Office divisional secretary (management services) Muhamad Shah Osmin said the programme would help to guarantee all agencies remain alert and at the ready when it comes to services, equipment and assets, in facing any potential disaster.
He added the Selangor Disaster Management Unit is also at the ready with the deployment of approximately 15,972 personnel from various agencies throughout the state.
