Selangor Pemadam skateboarding competition attracts 1,000 visitors

SHAH ALAM, Sept 13 — The biggest Grind 8 skateboarding competition, which was organised by Selangor’s Malaysian Drug Prevention Association (Pemadam) at Shah Alam Extreme Park in Section 13, here last week has received participation from local and international skateboarders.

In a statement, the association informed that the programme was held in collaboration with the Skateboarding Recreation Association and was attended by approximately 1,000 visitors including participants from Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore.

"The objective of the program is to give exposure to the millennials (generation Y) about the role of Pemadam in preventing DARVIH (drug, alcohol, vape, inhalant HIV/Aids) as well as promoting the Health Ministry’s Generational End Game campaign.

"Through this skateboarding competition, we promote healthy lifestyle activities to the visitors and provide information on avoiding drug abuse," it said.

The agency hoped the programme will receive recognition to attract more interest from young people to join the sports and reach the international level thus making the country proud.

The highlight of the programme was the presentation of prizes by Selangor Pemadam honorary secretary Farhan Ahmad Kamal.
