SHAH ALAM, Sept 10 — The district of Hulu Selangor can expect to see heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms until 9pm today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
In a statement released at 6.35pm, the agency said inclement weather is also expected in several parts of Kelantan (Machang, Pasir Puteh, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang) and Terengganu (Besut, Hulu Terengganu and Dungun).
It also forecasted similar weather patterns for other states and areas Sarawak: Kuching (Kuching), Serian, Samarahan and Limbang (Limbang) and Sabah: Pantai Barat (Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Ranau) and Sandakan (Telupid and Sandakan).
MetMalaysia issues a warning when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour which are expected to occur over the one-hour duration.
Thunderstorm warnings are short-term and are valid within six hours after it was issued.
