KUALA SELANGOR, Sept 7 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI has spent approximately RM1.5 million of the RM30 million allocation under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) department, to help disaster victims.

Its corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the funds were channelled through the state assemblymen of the affected areas.

"This allocation has been used since the start of the year when Selangor was affected by major floods at the end of last year, including some areas affected by storms.

"MBI is always prepared to help as long, provided the state assemblymen inform us. Following this, we will review the process to determine if it should be brought to the Selangor Economic Action Council (MTES) or the State Executive Council.

"Should the damages cost under RM50,000, we will manage it ourselves without having to go through a specific process," he said today.

Ahmad Azri was speaking at the presentation ceremony for 206 storm-affected families in Kuala Selangor, where MBI handed over RM206,000 in aid, via Permatang state assemblyman Rozana Zainal Abidin, at Dewan Dato' Penggawa Permatang earlier today.

He added that the storm disaster aid will be distributed to Sekinchan and Hulu Selangor victims next week.

MBI, a state government subsidiary, has carried out various CSR activities this year, including distributing sacrificial meat for Hari Raya Haji and the people's tuition programme, among others.

Last year it spent RM28 million to carry out welfare programs and initiatives aimed at combatting Covid-19.

The corporation also distributed RM2.8 million to assist flood victims and donations to Tabung Ikhtiar Selangor Bangkit.
