Selangor to develop Port Klang Cruise Terminal area, boost state tourism sector

SHAH ALAM, Sept 6 — The Selangor government is ready to work with the Federal government to develop the Port Klang Cruise Terminal (PKCT) area, which was recently reopened after closure during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said this is in line with the suggestions made by the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj for the terminal area to be a catalyst for the growth of the domestic and international tourism sector.

"The opening of PKCT is expected to boost the tourism sector in Selangor and have a positive impact on the local economy," he said on Facebook today.

Yesterday, the Sultan of Selangor asked the state government to intensify its tourism promotion and marketing of Selangor as an international tourist destination to ensure it continues to attract foreign visitors.

The terminal which has been in operation since 2015 provides docking facilities and services for cruise ships as well as naval ships in an area spanning 69.8 acres.

The terminal is equipped with air-conditioning, a connecting bridge for boarding and disembarking, as well as a covered walkway that connects the wharf and the terminal.

It also provides automatic teller machines (ATM), foreign currency exchange counters, convenience stores, souvenirs as well as gift shops, and duty-free shops.
