SHAH ALAM, Aug 28 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI continues its endeavour to support any artistic initiatives as part of its efforts to dignify the industry.

Its chief executive officer Norita Mohd Sidek said any arts growth in Selangor, especially at Shah Alam as the state's administrative centre, is something to be welcomed.

"As the holder and custodian of assets, MBI is responsible for ensuring Selangor remains managed well, especially as we move towards becoming a smart state by 2025.

"To that end, one should not only consider the governance, digital and economic aspects, but also the arts. We cannot solely work without the presence of singing, poetry, no sweetness in life with its associated tenderness," she said.

Norita was speaking at the Malam Gurindam Shah Alam programme, organised by MBI, that was held at Blackbox in the SACC Shah Alam shopping centre yesterday.

During the programme, celebrities including singer Ana Raffali as well as Lawak Solo 2016 Mad Sabah runner-up and poet Pyanhabib enlivened the occasion, which was also held in conjunction with the National Day celebrations.

The inaugural Malam Gurindam Shah Alam was held for free, in cooperation with the Selangor Peninsula Malay Student Association (GPMS), with the aim of realising an urban arts culture in Shah Alam and in tribute to the month of Independence.
